LG washing machine UE error
Independent repair, not LG's service centre.
On most LG washing machines, UE means the load is unbalanced. The clothes are bunched on one side. So the drum cannot spin fast. Heavy blankets and towels often cause it. LG's fix is to spread the clothes out by hand. Codes differ by model. Check your manual too.

Safety first
Switch off at the socket with dry hands, then unplug. Is the socket wet, warm, sparking or smelling of burning? Do not touch it. Call us.
Burning smell, sparks, or water near a socket? Do not touch the appliance or the plug. Keep everyone away. Call us.
Fire, or smoke filling the room? Leave the house. Call 112.
Safe checks you can do
Try these in order. Stop if anything feels unsafe.
Wait until the drum stops turning.
Switch off at the socket with dry hands, then unplug. Is the socket wet, warm, sparking or smelling of burning? Do not touch it. Call us.
Ran a hot wash? Let the clothes cool before you touch them.
Water in the drum? Do not open the door. Book a visit.
Open the door or lid. Door still locked? Wait a few minutes. Do not force it.
Pull apart clothes that are rolled up together. Spread them round the drum.
Washing a blanket? Wash one at a time. LG suggests the Blanket or Duvet cycle. Only a few items? Add a few more.
Plug in with dry hands. Run Rinse and Spin with the drum empty.
Does UE come back with the drum empty? LG says the machine then needs a repair.
LG also says to level the machine's feet. That means tilting a heavy machine. Leave that to us.
Still happening? Stop. Book a visit.
What we do on a visit
First we check the load and how the machine stands. Then we check what holds and turns the drum.
That means the bearings, the rings the drum turns on. And the shock absorbers, which stop the machine shaking. Overloading wears both out.
If a part has failed, we replace it. If a part has to be ordered, it usually takes 2–3 days.

What does UE mean on an LG washing machine?
