Safety first
Switch off at the socket with dry hands, then unplug. Is the socket wet, warm, sparking or smelling of burning? Do not touch it. Call us.
Burning smell, sparks, or water near a socket? Do not touch the appliance or the plug. Keep everyone away. Call us.

Safe checks you can do
These steps are for a front load. It has a small filter door at the bottom front. No such door? Skip to the hose check.
Switch off at the socket with dry hands, then unplug. Is the socket wet, warm, sparking or smelling of burning? Do not touch it. Call us.
Did you run a hot wash? Let the water cool first.
Put a towel and a low tray on the floor. A lot of water can come out.
Open the small filter door at the bottom front.
Loosen the filter slowly, a little at a time. Clean it and turn it back in until tight.
Water keeps coming, or the filter will not turn? Stop. Book a visit.
Look at the drain hose where you can see it. Bent sharply? Straighten it by hand. Do not move the machine.
Plug in with dry hands. Run a short drain.
Still happening? Stop. Book a visit.
Why it happens
Coins and fluff from clothes end up in the filter. In time they block it.
LG says to check the filter before you blame the pump. We start there too.
A bent or blocked drain hose stops the water too. IFB top loads: check the hose end is not under water.
Sometimes the drain pump itself has failed. Then we replace it.
What we do on a visit
We clean the drain filter and clear the hose. Then we test the drain pump. If it has failed, we replace it.
Basic faults are usually fixed on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, it usually takes 2–3 days.
